Silver coins come in a few clear families, and telling them apart is the first step. Some are valued mainly for their silver; others carry a collector premium on top. An evaluation starts by identifying the type, then evaluating it accordingly.

Silver coins we buy
- Morgan & Peace dollars
- The classic U.S. silver dollars. Original issues share the same silver content, while date, mintmark, and condition separate common coins from scarce ones. Modern collector re-issues are considered separately.
- 90% silver coinage
- Most dimes, quarters, and half dollars dated 1964 and earlier. Often sold by the group and valued largely for silver content, with scarcer dates set aside.
- American Silver Eagles
- One-ounce silver bullion coins, valued for silver first, with particular years and finishes drawing extra interest.
- Proof, mint & commemorative sets
- Silver proof sets and commemoratives in their original packaging, considered for both silver and collector value.

Collector value versus silver value
Two coins can weigh the same and be worth very different amounts. Date, mintmark, and condition can lift a coin above its silver value, while other coins are valued mainly for the silver they contain. We examine those details together with the metal content and explain which one drives the value for your coins.

How do I know if my old coins are silver?
Most U.S. dimes, quarters, and half dollars dated 1964 or earlier are 90% silver, though a few early series differ. Kennedy half dollars from 1965–1970 are 40% silver. We confirm the composition in person and separate silver coinage from later copper-nickel pieces.
Are all Morgan and Peace dollars worth the same?
No. Original Morgan and Peace dollars share the same silver content, but date, mintmark, and condition can lift particular coins above their metal value. Modern collector re-issues differ, so we look at each coin rather than assume.
Do you buy American Silver Eagles and proof sets?
Yes. Silver Eagles, proof and mint sets, and commemorative silver are all considered for both their silver content and any collector interest in the specific issue.
Do you quote a silver price over the phone?
We talk through what you have when you call, but a figure comes from seeing the coins in person. Type, date, and condition all affect the outcome, so we examine them before discussing numbers.
