Gold that still counts
Damage and fashion do not change how much gold a piece contains. Each of these is worth showing us.

Broken chains
A broken link or a missing clasp takes nothing away from the gold in the chain. Please keep every piece of it.

Single earrings
Its partner may have been lost long ago. The one that remains is still gold, and still of value.

Class rings
Many were made in 10K or 14K gold, stamped inside the band. Some used gold-colored alloys with no gold, so the stamp matters.

Pieces no longer in fashion
Older designs, bent rings and knotted necklaces are valued for their gold, not judged on their appearance.
Reading karat stamps
Look inside a ring band, or on the clasp or tag of a chain. The karat mark tells you how much of the piece is gold.

A stamp is a starting point
European marks count parts per thousand, so 585 is the usual mark for 14K. It stands for 58.5% gold, a touch above the 58.3% that fourteen parts in twenty-four works out to. Marks can also be worn, faint or simply wrong.
So a stamp alone never decides an offer.

Gold-filled and plated pieces are not solid gold
Many pieces look like gold on the surface and are mostly brass or another base metal underneath. Their marks give them away.
Marks that mean a thin gold layer
- GF, or a fraction such as 1/20 12K GF: gold-filled
- GP or GEP: gold plated or gold electroplated
- HGE: heavy gold electroplate
- RGP: rolled gold plate

Identify the item and its marks
We start with what the piece is: the coin type and date, or the karat stamp on a ring or chain.

Judge collector value against metal value
Some gold coins are worth more to collectors than their gold. Most bullion and jewelry is valued by the metal.

Explain the offer, then you decide
We explain how we arrived at the offer. You can accept it, decline it, or sell only part of what you have.
In person, never on photos alone
A picture can show a stamp and a color. It cannot show what a piece is made of or what it weighs.
So we make offers on gold jewelry only after we have checked what each piece is made of, with you there, and weighed it in front of you.
Before we meet
- Set aside anything you want to keep, so nothing gets mixed in by mistake.
- Include stamped and unmarked pieces alike.
- Keep loose links, clasps and broken pieces in a small bag so none go missing.
- Leave stones in their settings. Prying them out can damage both.
What Arkansas law asks of a sale
- On the scale in view. Your gold is weighed where you can see the reading.
- Per-ounce price, told to you. You are informed of the price per ounce being paid for your metal.
- Valid photo ID. A driver's license or another valid photo identification.
- Your signature. A statement that the jewelry is yours to sell, or that you sell it for its owner, and how it came to you.
- Your right thumbprint, taken with the signed statement.
- Sellers under 18. A parent or guardian comes along. Both show photo ID, and the adult must also provide identification that establishes the relationship. Call ahead and we will tell you what to bring.
Arkansas law sets these rules for selling gold jewelry to a buyer. They come from Ark. Code 17-23-203 (identification and ownership) and 17-23-205 (price per ounce and weighing).

Please keep the jewelry in a bag or box, with your photo ID. You are welcome to show us a few pieces first and the rest later.

Weighed, explained, then your decision
We check each piece with you, weigh the gold where you can see it, and explain the offer. You can accept it, decline it, or sell just some of the pieces.
Photos can come first

Selling gold jewelry from nearby cities
The shop is in Lowell, in the middle of the Northwest Arkansas corridor. Drive times are estimates without traffic.

Gold jewelry questions
Is broken gold jewelry worth selling?
Yes. A broken chain, bent ring or single earring holds the same gold it did when it was whole, and gold content is what a gold buyer pays for.
What if my jewelry has no karat stamp?
Bring it anyway. Stamps wear away, and some older or handmade pieces were never marked. An unmarked piece still gets a careful look with you.
Can you make an offer from photos?
Not on jewelry. Arkansas law has us weigh gold in your sight and tell you the price per ounce, so it has to be seen in person. A short description when you call still helps us plan the appointment.
What does a 14K stamp mean?
Fourteen parts gold out of twenty-four, which is 58.3% gold. The rest is other metals that harden the piece and set its color.
